Common Social Challenges

Many people assume social skills are something everyone naturally understands. Many of them are never explicitly taught. People are simply expected to “just know” them.

For many of my clients, this experience feels a lot like Alice in Wonderland—finding yourself in a world where everyone else seems to understand the rules, yet no one has ever explained them. Conversations, body language, and social expectations can feel confusing, unpredictable, and difficult to make sense of.

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering…

  • When is it my turn to speak?
  • How close should I stand?
  • What should I say next?
  • Why did that conversation feel awkward?
  • What is that person’s body language telling me?
  • How was I supposed to know that?

…you’re not alone.

When the unwritten rules of social interaction remain unclear, it’s easy to feel confused, misunderstood, or left out. Many people begin to doubt themselves, avoid social situations, or believe something is “wrong” with them.

Together, we’ll make those invisible social rules visible. Through discussion, visual supports, role-play, hands-on activities, and real-life practice, you’ll learn to understand the “why” behind social interactions—not just what to say or do.

Common areas we work on include:

  • Reading and understanding social cues
  • Recognizing body language as its own form of communication
  • Building confident conversation skills
  • Understanding personal space and developing healthy boundaries
  • Learning what it means to be a friend—and how to build and maintain friendships
  • Navigating different types of relationships and social expectations
  • Communicating assertively and respectfully
  • Practicing social skills in real-life situations

Every coaching session is individualized to your goals, strengths, and learning style. My goal isn’t to change who you are—it’s to help you better understand the social world so you can navigate it with greater confidence, clarity, and authenticity.
